I am a senior operations executive and entrepreneur with a proven track record in creating and managing successful businesses and products, and fixing and building businesses and divisions within companies, particularly in the clean energy space. I founded SunEdison in 2003 with Jigar Shah, which grew to the world’s largest solar energy services provider with a $10 billion market cap and 7200 employees by 2015.
I was asked to join the Department of Energy as Energy Efficiency Advisor to Secretary Steven Chu, then given responsibility to manage the Office of Weatherization and Intergovernmental Programs in 2009-2010 ($11 billion deployment).
After 9 years as President of CBJ Energy, a financing, operations, and business development energy solutions firm headquartered in Baltimore, I now run the University System of Maryland Momentum Fund which provides investment funding for promising technology ventures born out of USMs 12 constituent institutions.
I love all things Baltimore and have lived in Baltimore since I moved here with Constellation in 2002 after Harvard Business School. I have been very active in the local community, from investing in companies via Baltimore Angels and Blu Ventures., to writing grants to receive funding for Federal Hill Park. I’ve been a proud board member of Living Classrooms since 2012. I’m also on the advisory board of Betamore. I routinely judge at business plan contests regionally, and give classes on entrepreneurship at places like Emerging Technology Center.
